Outside of any city or town, in the middle of a beautiful scenery whose history it wants to show: at almost the same environment that the Indians saw centuries ago. In the steppe, 100 m from the paths of La Trochita at the foot of the Andes, is the Historical Museum Leleque is located. Scientists and researchers from across the Patagonia attended the opening of this museum, back in 1998. The museum has four rooms. The first is devoted to indigenous peoples. One can see the reproduction of a wigwam, everyday objects and explanations of procedures used. The second room explores the first contacts between Native Americans and whites. The third room develops the presence of the state in the Patagonia, the incorporation of the capitalist system and disputes over land control. |
