The city of El Hoyo is located in the Cordillera de los Andes, on Ruta Nacional N°40 (ex 258) 150 km from Esquel city and 14 km from El Bolsón on a fully paved road.

A natural protection against the winds bless the city with an unique and benign micro climate, making it a privileged place for fine fruit production, with many establishments engaged in the production and manufacture of these fine products. On January El Hoyo celebrates the "Fiesta Nacional de la Fruta Fina", Fine Fruit National Fair, with the aim of displaying the most significant economic activity of the city along tourism.

Among the major scenic beauties offered by El Hoyo one can visit the ponds Espejo, Los Alerces, Plesiosauro and Cascada Escondida, the last one is ideal for the lovers of trekking and horse riding.
